Nexium decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Nexium is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Synonym:

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
Take this medicine by mouth. Swallow the capsules whole with a drink of water. Follow the directions on the prescription
label. Do not crush, break or chew. The capsules can be opened and the contents sprinkled on applesauce. Do not crush the
contents into the food. This medicine works best if taken on an empty stomach at least one hour before a meal. Take your
medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is less than four hours to your next dose, take only that dose and skip the missed dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light and moisture. Throw
away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
